Friend To The Bone Poem by Genice Lorraine De Fabriciano

Friend To The Bone

Be a friend to the bone.
Friend to the bone?
What does this entail?
Well, glad you asked, friend!
Out of all the men and husband's,
The pool of married men,
That I'm surrounded by,
Even until parties end.
I have my pick of single ones too,
But I've never helped myself,
To the married men fools. Why?
There are hidden, Understood Rules
When you've decided, and prided yourself,
On always being a friend to the bone.
It's not for the faint of heart,
I promise it's not an accident.
I've never helped myself or coveted,
My friend or neighbors husband.
Yes, I'd say it's good to keep your wits,
Hands and eyes to yourself.
It's really not hard to be a friend
A friend to the bone.
It doesn't always work both ways,
I'm sorry to report and say.
But, that's not why I do it.
I've chosen to be a friend to the bone.
And live my life under a code,
Of ethics and morals and character traits
That many may consider strict or too straight.
I don't care what people think,
When it comes to right or wrong
I go by my conscience and it steers me along.
Interested in being a friend to the bone?
Glad to meet you, friend to the bone!
You'll be nice to have around,
And welcome in many a home.
