From An Old Man Dying Poem by Alfred Ramos

From An Old Man Dying

FROM AN OLD MAN DYING
Faded almost gone is the color of life
The luster of autumn stands silently still
The curtain of night is gentle drawn
Without much attention or skill
I’ve managed to by- pass today
Leaving unnoticed, the thoughts and dreams that overspill
But they would have been void thoughts
And rippled dreams
For I have lost my sense of time
Of dried oasis, mirages of the mind is all that remains
The flower of the morning rays stays hid, heaven forbid if it rains
I’ve managed to by-pass today
Under the covers where no discovers if I’m crazy or sane
Of dew moist spider webs and echoes that fail to return
What have I to learn?
Like seasick sailors longing for their loved ones I seem caught in a whirlpool
Where do I turn?
I’ve managed to by-pass today
My rainbow days have melted, the north wind cuts my grin
And the lack of lust for life is waiting to burn
Don’t take it to heart my confused stranger
The blood in my veins is ice cold, my soul already sold
I have lost the will to live
Of the falling stars burning out over the horizon
Conveying sadness, that really depresses me
And like a lost passenger of a passing constellation
What other than loneliness, possesses me
I have by-passed today
You see the master hand of time has run out on me
And it no longer caresses me
But truer stories have been told
And through my own admission I will go
You see I want to die
