From Petroglyphs To Stored Human Intelligence Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

From Petroglyphs To Stored Human Intelligence

The horse once pulled the winter sleigh,
Across the snow, the quiet way.
Or on tired feet we walked the mile,
In sturdy boots, of those days style.

Then came the car with metal frame,
The horse and carriage left the game.
The quill they dipped in ink of blue,
Is now a screen that glows for you.

Where heavy books once lined the wall,
A pocket device now holds it all.
The world spins on a faster track,
With no desire for looking back.

We built a brain of wire and light,
To help us read, to help us write.
A clever tool, both sharp and vast,
To leave the shadows of the past.

But take a breath and watch the hand,
That guides this power across the land.
For cold machines lack heart or soul,
And need a human to keep control.
