From The Heart Of A Deaf Child Poem by Joye Atkinson

From The Heart Of A Deaf Child

What a welcome I received when I came to the earth
People all around the world were excited by my birth
After nine months of growing the day finally came
For me to make my entrance and receive a brand new name
Everyone was happy their hearts were filled with cheer
Until the doctor told them that I couldn't hear
All the joy I had seen when I came into the light
Was now interrupted by faces filled with fright
My parents could not hold back tears but I could clearly see
They didn't care that I was deaf I knew they wanted me
They knew God had special plans to use me like I am
Whether I can hear or not I'm Jesus' little lamb
As I grow up in the world as hard as it may be
I know the Lord is on my side and he will help me see
I am a special masterpiece created out of love
Sent to earth to fulfill the plans of God above
One day when the Lord comes back and we all rejoice
I'll be shouting praise to him as I hear his loving voice
