Futile - Poem by Lynne RBC

You gave me the right to choose
which I never knew I'd lose
right before my eyes -

They took my soul away
repay the favors -
a trick
and I am sick of it
of them
robbing me
my sanity
and you.

I love you too much
to stay
and I grieve
watching you hurt
deeper each day
no matter how much I try
to soothe you
there's nothing left
to feed you
but candies.
