We use up all the words till
there's nothing left to say
all that remains are feelings
unsatisfied emotion, lingering hurt
that cannot be described or explained
in common terms of vowels and consonants and
by-the-book definition
there is no allaying the sadness in the end
only time soothes with the balm of passing years
and a distance in the mind
as memory refracts a truth less hostile
till what was once fraught with import
finally seems so
Insignificant.
