I saw the future shining clearly
Not within my grasp, but nearly.
And just beyond my reach there glowing
I glimpsed the hand of time bestowing
Those things we made of our own choosing;
Left in me a wonder, museing.
I saw the future: hope and daring,
Witnessed the wounds of hate reparing,
Observed the nets of science cast
Far afield and flying fast.
They broke the surly bonds of fear
That hold us back, that keep us here.
I saw the future here returning
The dreams we share, the life, the yearning.
Our efforts now the youth will reap.
Our hands now hold the light they keep.
