Galleys Aft Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Galleys Aft

Rating: 0.5

Every boat I ever sailed on for wages
had its galley located aft near the stern

Stormy days with waves washing decks
forced deckhands to hang on to ropes

from quarters forward to galley aft
for meals that would be upchucked

on the return trip. Mess cooks laughed
at our rubber-legged journey!
