Gate Poem by Vanja Izova Veleva

Gate

Rating: 5.0

I hear familiar knocking
pounding deep inside me.

The blows come
like destructions waves.

The gate has long forgotten
why it is here with me,
by my side.

Rust has spread across its body
gnawing it gradually.

Should I have gone through it
or had myself contained in it?

Marks of dilapidation
all over its body
Like pimples leaking down its spine.

Why are we together?
Why is it stealing my eye?

I’m waiting. Rust could be my ally,
eating me away
eating the gate away.

Who does it help?
