Georgie Porgie Poem by Mary Champion

Georgie Porgie

OSBORNOMICS
2017

Georgy Porgy: Bullingdon guy,
Squeezed the poor and made them cry.
But when the rich refused to pay,
Georgy Porgy ran away.

Georgie Porgy got the sack
and noticed a financial lack.
An MP's salary won't pay
enough for him to salt away
in offshore funds and dodgy trusts.
How else might Georgie earn a crust?
The lecture circuit, he had heard,
pays gen'rously for ev''ry word.
Eight hundred grand a year he made,
but still poor George felt underpaid.

Despite his failure to erase
the UK debt he found a place
with asset managers, BlackRock,
advising on their clients' stock.
Four days a month! but what the hell?
It seemed to suit his talents well.
It's zero hours-or thereabouts -
with thirteen thou a day payout.

Add to that the dividends
from Family Company and ends
should surely meet; but not for Oz,
he needs much more than that because,
still mad at May for being fired,
more cash and power are required,
to stake his claim to number ten
where he can shrink the state again.

A chance to join the fourth estate
that pays above the going rate.
Evening Standard Editor-
more spoils for George the Predator.
Russian money used to buy
posh traitors, who agreed to spy
and sell our secrets to the Reds,
the ones that lurked beneath our beds.
But Lebedev has got more nous,
he wants his contacts in the House,
or City Hall where puppet king
can be controlled by Russian strings.

George Porgy, Bullingdon guy
lost his job - that made him cry.
Now, like the poor, he used to beat,
he needs six jobs to make ends meet.
