Near Misses Poem by Mary Champion

Near Misses

Rating: 5.0

I met her when she was too young
but still she stole my heart.
Fell for the woman she'd become
then we were torn apart.

I met her when she was too old,
but still she held my heart.
Embraced the woman I'd foretold
then we were torn apart.

For decades empty years rolled round
as life forced us apart
until, in loving friendship bound,
she brought peace to my heart.
