Get Ready The Bride Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Get Ready The Bride

When Christ’s report we have believed
When Christ becomes our Lord
When Jesus’ Seal we have received
We’ll flee the coming sword

Till then the bride has much to do
There’s much to be arranged
The Lord our hearts will form anew
Once worldly minds are changed

Exchanging rags for shining gown
With soul through blood refined
Upon our head a golden crown
We’ll leave our cares behind

Impossible is loud the cry
Such things can not be done
But when to self we choose to die
We’ll see the victories won

We’ll see the things no eye has seen
The things no ear has heard
We’ll see beyond life’s secret screen
Through God’s almighty word

Whatever sinful deeds we’ve done
What shameful wares we try
The grace of God through Christ His Son
Can save the souls who cry

The Lord can see our life’s report
Both righteous deeds and sin
Our hearts reveal each secret thought
Through He who dwells within

Before we sail for Heaven’s shore
Before God’s face we see
Obedience opens wide the door
And love is Heaven’s key
