Getting Out Poem by Beth Ahna

Getting Out

Happy such a common emotion
So easy to come by
so easy to loose and to shun
Then leaving us to question why?
Listen to my words
As on the paper i lay them
This is no song there are no cords
They grow to meaning for there is no end
Look around you
See the hurt
Cant you take a clue
Look beyond the simple shirt
Listen to me
As i sit and talk here
You are lost but i am free
It is not me you fear
The dark is around
not always seen
but to one it is bound
its eyes more keen
Listen to the noises
they move around beneath us
your running out of choices
just give in, no more fuss
You cant run for ever
soon your soul will die
you cant say never
when they have you in their eye
Listen as it sinks in
your mind no longer thinking
your dieing within
your slowly sinking
You look beyond
to the small glimmering light
remembering all the things you once held fond
and then you start to fight
Listen as your breath gets heavy
your eyes reopen
your not done until your free
your still hopin
You fight the dark as best you can
and soon it fades away
there alone you stand
seeing the light of day
Listen as the heaviness leave
rejoice as love finds your heart
only now can you breath
but this is only were we start
The day is bright
now you are free
no more do we fight
now you can see.
