Getting Over You Poem by Jessica Foster

Getting Over You

You broke my heart and left me dead.
These tears I cry should not be shed.
I said I'd wait for you instead,
But you had a heart made of lead.
So now I cry these tears of red,
Asking why these things were said.

You Let Me Down.
Burned me into the ground.
I thought you’d always be around,
But you left me without a sound.
What happened to forever?
What happened to being together?
Well, it’s over now.
Well, it’s over now.

You won’t hurt me anymore.
You won’t make me wonder,
If it’s the calm before the storm.
I won’t be blown away by your anger,
I won’t be drowned in your hatred.
Your hurricane won’t be going down in my history.

You Let Me Down.
Buried me into the ground.
I thought you’d always be around,
But you left me without a sound.
What happened to forever?
What happened to being together?
Well, it’s over now.
Well, it’s over now.

So I met another,
We are happier together.
He knows my flaws.
His ex finally retracted her claws.
So I guess I’m feeling better.
And I guess I’m starting to matter.
