When desert winds unveiled the Friend's lost trace, I found again,
What once had fled the heart's eternal grace, I found again.
I left khalwat, and turned toward the crowded bazm of men—
Yet no true kindred in that vast sarāy I found again.
Through mountain wilds I cried, "O Voice of First Address! "—but still
Neither His ṣadā, nor His pure ḥaqīqat's ray I found again.
My weary feet were bound to tread the pilgrim's burning ṣaḥrā,
Within that endless waste, the ancient chase I found again.
I plunged into the sea of Being, diving past all veils—
The hidden pearl of ʿishq, at ocean's base I found again.
O MyKoul, know: though vast this world, in every depth I see
What once had vanished—through longing's true embrace I found again.
