Longing Poems

Come to me in the silence of the night;
Come in the speaking silence of a dream;
Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright
As sunlight on a stream;

I would not exchange the sorrows of my heart
For the joys of the multitude.
And I would not have the tears that sadness makes
To flow from my every part turn into laughter.

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, 'Speak to us of Children.'

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

Yearning for tenderness.
The one lost —It's so long -so long

The dark wings of night enfolded the city upon which Nature had spread a pure white garment of snow; and men deserted the streets for their houses in search of warmth, while the north wind probed in contemplation of laying waste the gardens...

As the Sun withdrew his rays from the garden, and the moon threw cushioned beams upon the flowers, I sat under the trees pondering upon the phenomena of the atmosphere, looking through the branches at the strewn stars which glittered like chips of silver upon a blue carpet; and I could hear from a distance the agitated murmur of the rivulet singing its way briskly into the valley.

Birdsong brings relief

Somedays in my longing

In the depths of my heart,
A yearning grows ever strong,
A longing that won't depart,
A hunger that won't be wronged.

In this barren land,
I am a restless soul,
Longing for the rain that never comes,
A memory of times gone by.

Had the world of us, if not in peace,
Had our minds, if not of empathy,
Had our love, if not of affection,
Had our marriage, if not of respect,
...

The agonizing daily pain and longing is starting to wear me down,
Oh, it's unbearable to have to deal with this darkness and emptiness inside,
I don't want to be in this darkness of agony and longing continuous over and over drown,
Of can someone save me from agonizing pain of longing and misery inside
...

This feeling of longing comes and goes
Right now, I feel longing emanating from this heart
The ratio is thinking how to get rid of this longing
But this heart is reluctant to deny it
...

The love of the Prophet—an indescribable longing
This longing swells, stirs and reverberates throughout the universe and all corners of the world
Longing never ends as if lying stiff in the rotation of ticking time
Longing flows profusely felt by every human being
