Ghost Life Poem by Rachel Branscombe

Ghost Life

All alone, always alone
Lonely is the world I see
Devoid of love and hope and peace
It is full of hate and envy

Joy has left me long ago
Now I live in fear
That one day he would come again
Wiping good mans tears

I see the world differently to most
I see but cannot touch
I see the pain but can do naught
But look on and watch

This life I live I wished not
It hurts my heart to think
That all my evils would be repaid
In years of heartbreak and shame

I had a life once
It wasn't good but it was fun
I lived on the edge and never thought
For those in the care of god

Now I live to wander the world
To watch the evils, I had once done
To watch pain and do but nothing
I can see but cannot touch
