Gilgamesh Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh,
After so many years
Of anonymity and captivity
I turn to you,
To you, Gilgamesh
Seeing your sculpture,
Your historical figurine,
Standing as a historical being,
A mythical fellow
Clutching a lion
And a snake,
O you Mesopotamian hero,
Sumerian-Assyrian king
Of the Akkadian epic,
The Master of Animals,
The Royal Persona
Representing ancient civilizations
And their heyday!
