Ginger Tom Poem by D.S. Bell

Ginger Tom

'Once upon a morning time, a bit before a storm,
I had sat up in pyjamas, and was seated on my throne.
With my feet up near the fireplace sipping at my tea,
I peered outside the window and what had I to see?

It was very dark outside, the stars were right on cue,
I had found myself a stranger, he crept right into view.
Our chap was in a hurry, as he didn't much delay,
Before I sipped at my tea, the little fella was underway!

Now I tell you of the truth, I too was taken by surprise,
For this plump and fluffy fellow proved quite nimble for his size.
He slipped out through a window,
And he slipped out through with ease,
Then he leaped off the windowsill,
And went swift down through the trees…'
