Girls Who Dared To Dream Poem by Phanice Malova

Girls Who Dared To Dream

by Malova

I've heard of girls who dared to dream,
In the midst of uneasy slumber—
Still, dreams came.

When the multitudes slept with one eye open,
And their necks stiff with caution,
They dared to dream.

When everything was carved in stone,
When voices declared
They belonged in kitchens and bedrooms—
They still dreamed.

Boardrooms were barred,
Their names unwelcome at tables of power,
But they dreamed anyway.

They dreamed that one day,
The pot that brewed the glory—
They would hold the straw,
And sip of its honor.

Just one day.
Hope, unshaken.
Just that one day—
The picture would be painted,
Of strength hidden within
A vessel the world called weak.

That earthen vessel—
It carried treasure.
