Give God A Loving Hug Poem by Yehualashet Teshome

Give God A Loving Hug

I am afraid
Will take my questions to the grave
There is no one to ask
The young man I used to be
Thriving life
Full of hope
Kicking with full force
Where has it gone?
The wheel of time
Rotating around me
Eroding everything good I had
Leaving ugly, painful scars
Longer when I grieve
Shorter to the point of extinction
When I rejoice
A cruel joke

Why can't I fly?
Flapping my hundred wings
To embrace the moon and the stars
Give God a long, loving hug
If I am the child of the universe
And not an outsider
