Give Me My Flowers While Still Alive Poem by Eunice Abang

Give Me My Flowers While Still Alive

When the light fades
And my ears shut against the voices
When Silence becomes my friend
Then comes the crowds
Friends
Foes
Here comes the display
The screams
The ceaseless sobs
The regrets
The eulogies
There I lay, peaceful and calm
Surrounded with bouquet I got from no one while alive.
What essence? I asked from beyond.
