Given Poem by Nia Schexnider

Given

I have already given

and I don't ask to receive.

.

I give my time,

I give my jokes,

I give my hugs,

I give my tears,

I give my years,

.

It only surprises me that this is not how you see it.

.

I am like an alien here- in these mountains.

Far from my family.

Far from the idea of home.

.

Then today you said, that none of your previous relationships worked.

and you said that we won't work.

.

I guess that should have been a given.

.

but it wasn't because you were all TAKE.
