Giving It Up Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Giving It Up

Disgraced! God’s face we’ll never see
This truth should cause concern
To be from sin completely free
All filth has need to burn

We must repent and change our ways
Set fire to sinful lust
With Jesus’ wind to fan the blaze
We’ll see it turn to dust

The things we hate to give up most
Each wayward dark desire
Best first we give The Holy Ghost
To purge us free with Fire

Conviction, sets The Flame alight
For sin there’s no reprieve
God’s truth puts demons quick to flight
In Jesus’ name, they leave!

Quench not God’s Flame with doubt or fear
Give up deceit and hate
Allow them now to burn down here
God’s judgement’s far too late

The judgement starts and ends in Flame
The choice to all is free
Surrender filth, or die in shame
But don’t wait long to see

To live with sin we can’t afford
To die we know too well
So give it freely to The Lord
Or burn with it in hell

Whilst here we’ve yet the golden rule
God’s wisdom close to hand
To know the truth, yet die a fool
The Judge won’t understand…
