Glaciers Poem by Jimmy Scanlon

Glaciers

Rating: 5.0

In this valley that I stand in
Staring into its glacial face
Anciently weaving
its way north
curling thru high cuts of rock
where it sharpens its cheek bones
spawning songs
from the bones of shale
and the hand clapping echoes of
trap rock
forever its voice a shadow
Sculpting a path beneath its skin

How patient the earth has been
To wait for friction
And the breath of water
To dig push and embrace
its appointment with
This ocean of time
That is my home
Forever its voice
An echo
Of our future
