God Is Always There Poem by Marilyn Lott

God Is Always There

Sometimes we feel weary and broken
Like an old barn in the country
So many chapters behind us now
A future not so bright to see

Our gait gets slow and we stumble
We lose the courage to go on
We’ve lost our way in the world
No longer feel hopeful and strong

We forget now, what we stand for
Life has blurred our reason and truth
A lot of years have piled up now
Since the day of our long ago birth

Our children perhaps are gone
They’re busy raising their families
We may feel lost and forgotten
Like a twig amidst a forest of trees

But that is the time that we must
Raise up and be the strongest of all
We must straighten our tired body
And stand up straight and tall

Forget that others are busy
Don’t seem to have time for us
For we lead in our own direction
For ourselves we can make a fuss

God is always waiting in the sidelines
Yes, he’s always there you see
If we need His firm direction
He’s waiting for you and for me

When we get lost in our own self-pity
And forget the one who truly cares
We must stop everything and realize
That our God is always there!
