God’s Fire &Wine (2) Poem by Michael P. Johnson

In shame we drink the devil’s brew
Obedience fails the soul
Yet Jesus through His precious Dew
Will save and make us whole

Although outside the devil prowls
Awaiting those who fail
God’s guiding Flame within one’s bowels
Will keep us free of jail

God’s Flame is not for man’s delight
It’s not a toy for play
Nor has it come to warm at night
Nor comfort us by day

God sends The Flame to purge the sin
His Holy Ghost lays bare
Convicting power that burns within
The bride of Christ to share

“The Comforter” man’s guide to life
God’s judgement here on earth
“Fire” to cleanse The Saviour’s bride
And lead to second birth

Too many think they’re safe and sound
Salvation’s come and more
Yet no one builds on solid ground
Who fail to find life’s Door

Let no one say, “I’m of the Vine
I’m righteous through and through”
For Jesus’ Flame’s is in the wine
He gives to us brand new

Let’s drink Salvation’s Liquid Light
God’s power to life and love
When baptised in His Holy Might
We’ll join God’s throng above…
