God's Particle Poem by Andrew Rimmer

God's Particle

Rating: 5.0

But yeah…of the god particle finally there's no doubt,
On a smashing magnetic flying roundabout
CERN's efforts troubling long and hard,
Gleaning this secret from such a miniscule shard.

Now inside a Higgs field are we, apparently,
As is the universe much of which we can't even see,
The latest shiny jewel in man's growing knowledge haul,
But will it cause the price of oil to fall?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I felt moved to write a poem about the discovery of the Higgs Boson and its implications. I played on God's and God to mean we have moved on but still our understanding is just as incomplete in the entirety. We still face parochial problems such as the price of oil.
