The Poetry Of A Gaoler's Heart Poem by Andrew Rimmer

The Poetry Of A Gaoler's Heart

The sang-froid of a street entertainer arisen
Surpasses the traffic warden's humanitarianism

The nervous laughter of a funeral director
Pales the side splitting humour of a solicitor

The engaging eloquence of a football manager
Shadows the sympathy of decisions by a bank manager

The expression of a taxidermist facing an elephant
Belies a salesman's honest intent

The practical common sense of a teacher
Mirrors the humility of an evangelistic preacher

All are to be found in the poetry of a gaoler's heart.

The title came to me first, it seemed to work and the others followed.
