God, God save me,
Save me from
Indian English Poetrywallas
Going to attend poetry fests
With festoon, banner, graffiti,
India men, Indian poets.
One calling oneself a Keats
Another himself a Wordsworth,
If one is a Shakespeare
Another one a Milton,
One oneself an Eliot
Another himself a Yeats.
My God, I do not who is what,
Save me, save me from
Indian Wordsworths, Indian Keatses,
Indian Shakespeares, Indian Spensers,
Indian Miltons, Indian Donnes,
Indian Eliots, Indian Yeatses.
Save me, save me, God
From poets, Indian English poets,
Poetrywallas, Indian poetrywallas
Clad in dhoti and kurta and lungi,
In sari and blouse,
In turban, pyjama and kurta
Nay Englishmen, but Hindustanis.
