God The Alchemist Poem by nigel colledge

God The Alchemist

Omega beckons, sucked into a black hole
All matter, all creatures great and small
Spectacularly nothing left of the wonders
Of God's mystery and magical creation

As young children on our mother's knee
We were told God created all in 6 days
Implicitly we believed her every utterance
We recited Our Father who art in heaven.

From a vacuum many billions of years ago matter created
There are now trillions of galaxies disappearing away
At mega parsecs our galaxy departs the bang
Eventually into oblivion a black hole to devour

At school we learnt that atoms were smallest particle
Then we learnt that atoms were actually three elements
Protons electrons and neutrons what holds them together?
The particles of matter continue to be split algebraically

Physicists with incredible formulae for minutia calculate
The Higgs Bosun the infinite also called the God Particle
With protons colliding at CERN and muons discovered
Plus, X and Y hidden elements, is God in our hand?

So, since I sat on my mother's knee, have Ilearnt more?
The alpha is the beginning of time, or is it the end?
Does time exist or is it an invention of mankind?
Omega man will never understand until we no longer exist
