On a black and starry night, he leaves you
To the pier he goes, she waits
For he know he will not leave her
At the thought of her he quakes
With her flowing white and twine
He knows she knows no other
He strokes upon her bright-work fine
She glistens as she shutters
So pull your wrap around you dear
Breathe the night in deeply
And plead to heaven over one last tear
As he goes to her so sweetly
For true in his heart she is
And there you’ll never be
For he left you on a starry night
He has gone again to sea.
