Gong Of War Poem by Bada Olaitan Tope

Gong Of War

Gong of war

At the market square, gathered before the tour
In their hearts raises songs of war
To override their adversaries is core
To repel the siege they beat the gong of war

All well prepared with their aprons and riffles
In their booties to strike they buckles
Teenagers are not left out as their anger bubbles
To unshackle their land from the rebels

What a tragedy! !
Not tactical to discover the remedy
Putting themselves in the shameful gallery
They all battle to foster their slavery

Too blind to unveil the fact
Too smart they claimed but are daft
Oblivion of the sorcerers that corrodes with craft
Desolate looms and caresses the raft

Can a man eliminate bodily disease with ammunition?
The pest that eats nutrient lives in the foundation
Guess what? It's a cancer that dwindles the nation
Could weaponry be the proffered solution?

War! War! ! War! ! ! they all clamour
Not a coward but will reminds you it's true colour
It renders impotent the potency of the valour
It makes feeble the giant even with amour

Wailers will soon console mourners
When the land of multitude turn loners
When palace would be razed down in furnace
Erasing the able bodied that counters
Event that turns citizen to refugee
Who will sail us to the apogee?
Before our sonorous voices sings elegy
Before our sun dim and vanquish the sunny
