Goodbye...... Poem by JOE JOHNSON

There isn't much time left
for you, I see you in your last
days and fear it might turn into
seconds. The only joy you have
is the visit by the singing blue
bird near the window, how you
would conversate with it.

I bring you flowers as if you
need them, as if they would
make a difference but I know
all you need is care but I can't
reach you.

Who might of guessed that
glass could keep us apart, 'hard
air, solid water'. I miss your
laughter, comforting voice and
your horrible jokes.

I would ask you to speak if it
wouldn't kill you, if you wouldn't
get hurt but I guess silence is better.
I will seek justice for you and will
forever bring memory to your name.

May the Gods take care of you or they
will suffer my hands. I would share your
pain but alas I can't, your eyes have turned
red and your heart feels no longer.

I promised you the world and yet yours
is fading away. What shall I do without
you, what shall I say?

Please close your eyes and be free, the world
has taken far too much from you and so have
I. Feel my touch as your soul leaves mine, but
I know you will be happy.

May the peace bring me closer to you and dance one more time......
