Goodbye Alicia Poem by Musa Mwalimu Dukuly

Goodbye Alicia

How do I say goodbye?
When I think of the good memories,
We created together,
The midnight telephone talk, the tease.
And ease of jokes, at the riverside.

How do I say goodbye?
Night falls in the blink of eyes,
Darkness groaned,
Frightened, we began,
Now we're on the verge,
Of saying goodbye to each other,
Like body and soul,
bidding farewell,
When death arrives.

How do I say say goodbye?
When I still remember your name,
Feel the taste of your milky lips,
Feel the warmth of your chubby body.
This nightmare wouldn't allow me,
To say goodbye,
For bye, is like a betrayal now.
I wish I could delete those memories,
But they're memorable and indelible.

How do I say goodbye?
Til we meet again.
When the trumpet blows,
Wake up, and give me a hug,
Maybe this could be the goodbye,
I was wishing to say,
When I couldn't breath.
