Goodbye My Dear Lover Poem by ANTHONY ANIGBATA

Goodbye My Dear Lover

GOODBYE MY DEAR LOVER

Goodbye my dear lover
We were never meant to be
Tell me why we should stick together
When all we had has fallen apart

Your love has always been
Like vinegar on my lips
From the start to this end
And now I wish, we never met each other.

We have ended our preparation
When our union is still young
That succulent sugarcane is broken
And we must seek others, to take separate ways.
For our cupids bond, has been broken.

We have come to the path
Where the road diverge in two
And must walk separate ways
Never to see each other again

Let my pillows feel my pains
And on my cheeks rattle
The cold-rain from my eyes
Let the street hear my songs of solitude,
But in peace let's depart
For our brittle bond is broken

Our love has seen extinguished
The last afterglow gone
Now we see clearly, limitations
Hidden by the encharming hands of cupid;

Our love has faded
Like the setting sun at dusk
Goodbye my dear lover
We were never meant to be.
