Goodness - Poem by Camilla Fodgaard

I have difficulty
in believing
that goodness roams the space within the depths of our hearts
but sometimes
it brakes through the barrier we see before us
and slaps us hard in the face
It makes itself known
presents its abilities
The world is a tough and merciless place
but sometimes good shows up
and make us realize our mistakes
it could be presented, lived through
our actions,
our advice,
our words of comfort,
our experiences,
our expressions
And then we must embrace it
take it all in
feel it
before it leaves us behind
leave us to struggle with the weapon we only have for seconds at a time
before returning to our selfish ways of life
our couldn't-care-less-attitude
and our feelings of despair and self pity
