Goodnight Poem by Stuart Doggett

Goodnight

Burnt out with my name all over the screen,
Sat next to my friend living the orange county dream,
Long for my woman and hearing her pleas,
Touching her there and making her shine.

I crawl towards it,
I touch its blackness
And fall in head first.

Pulled back up with hands on four,
To fix some girls eyes I’ve never met
I hear the shouting,
The hyenas cackle rising up through my bed,
The pack is circling,
Their voices gnaw at my head,
The fires rise and I shoot until all their voices fall dead.

I crawl towards it,
I crawl towards it,
I crawl towards it,

I just want to let go,
Let me let go,
Just let me fall.

I crawl towards it,
I touch its blackness
And fall in head first.

My open mouth swallows me whole,
Recorded voices sing in my ear,
Telling me to go
While I dream about going back,
I dream about letting go.
