Got Eyes But Not To See Poem by Danny Ballan

Got Eyes But Not To See

There must be a thousand times I stared
At the same ragged old sight;
With nothing more than an eye,
I figured was the only thing needed to see.
So I looked and looked and never stopped
For what seemed to be an eternity.

Of long lost battles and shattered castles;
Of dreams vanquished like waves on rocks;
Of people I was supposed to be,
But very simply, I was not;
Of dream girls that were supposed to love me,
Only I did not love back;
Of the world being trembled,
And all in the state of shock,
And life in there hung by a thread
As no more hope sustained by none,
Until I was supposed to rise
And slowly dismount my horse and shout:

"Enough! " and all of a sudden
Everything and all the killing would stop;
And bring light back to a world so dark;
And the stories started to be told
Of a hero that had saved it:
It, which could not be saved;
Of a one-sided victory against all odds;
Of a world finally the mighty and worthy led,
But I simply did not do any of it;
And I sensed myself by then so dead.
Because I stared and stared and thought;
But so little have I done anything;
But too much have I ever said.
