Got To Church Today - Poem by Reginald Goodridge

yes yes
I went
to express
and vent

to tell
my God
great Jehova
how odd

special
fruitful

wonderfulunbelievable

interesting
annoying

weird
queer

eye-opening
pleasant ly-appealing
my world has been

you see
realife
is so true
and never blue
or grey
or black
but new
re-newed
by expressive
messages!

my God and I
talked
laughed
cried
were born
and died

the message was full
of, in my opinion, -bull

like something
about regret
but that's an emotion
I haven't fallen to yet

you see
every me
that
reginald b
has seen, felt, experienced, or
dreamed

has brought
taught
fought
caught

this me
to thee
on'ly
me

you could
would
should
want to be

and God was right
I've lived the life
been to the gutter
and lived beauty to utter

seen the planet
twist
from the brown of my
fist

sweat for them
tripped on them
stood strong - for them
and leaped - from them

so I prayed
stayed
delayed
was swayed
and laid

in the arms
of my religion
asking God
for vision

what I want
versus
what I flaunt

what I speak
versus, -what I do
loving people
in love with OOOOOO...

reminiscing over pink
smiling as I think
in red
the new bed
of truth, I lay
and feeling damn great
all 24 hours of this day

spiritually
emotionally
sexually
prophetically

great
for a
fate
I can't
wait

to see
unfold
behold
I was told

the old man
he was right
plus my bible
neither was trite

I see the path
in front of me
and I feel good
I hope they see

but I'll stop
not ramble on
my life is full
flowing over with song...
