Graffito-Less Poem by Akwasi Aidoo

Graffito-Less

Alone it stands, not just
soulless, untoward, rising skybound
On a clear weather day it stands
against hanging vain-strutting smoke
passing as leftover clouds
claiming its own airspace.
Before us it stands
alone, tall and treeless
no shrubs either, only concrete
slabs hiding no messages coded
for seeing minds, clairvoyant eyes.
This phallus, erected
into our soul pock-marked,
announces fretfully
'Hurl-'em out of the way! '
This phallus, etching a hurried boom
in our doom, stands as if to say:
I dare you
I was, I am, I will be Graffito-less.
