Grandma Said Poem by Lauren Harper

Grandma Said

Rating: 5.0

I thought you were a godly man
Grandma always said,
"Find you a man who loves him some Jesus, "
Its true,
You rendered my body a temple.
When we met
My curtains were drawn
At their center,
My walls freshly painted
Mustering every last cent I had
On chemical color
To cover the stains
I should have thought it odd
That a boy
That you
That you a boy
Had gathered a paint brush
Once taking in the scuffed walls
And my cracked foundation
Insisting that "there
Wasn't
Too much work to be done
On this
Project"
On me
The project
You took my growth
My reconstruction
And deemed yourself my architect
