Grass Poem by Tracy WatsonBrown

Grass

He showed me blades of grass cut down to size
By the work of man. Each one short, all green.
A beautiful bland sameness throughout,
And further on, he showed me tall grass
Allowed to flourish- first the leaf, then the stalk
And then the full grain nods its head and I
See the variety that he intends in this world.
Grains short, long, feathery, compact.
He showed me that we are like blades of grass-
Created in his image; each one of us unique.
