Great People Saying Stuff Poem by Shailen Karur

Great People Saying Stuff

A shade of pale iridescent blue I strained to observe:
aha, and then I saw it through the lenses of my very eyes
so that's why they call it that,
seeing for oneself what is meant to be there
a pleasure in imagined surprises, safe in the knowledge
that one can still see what others do:
it's reproducible, it's quantifiable, it's matter empirical
must be the scientific method, no?
a headless mob with the mentality of lemmings
swimming surely and steadily to the cliff they'll jump
off of, secure in the common understanding that
if everyone thinks the same way, they must somehow be
right, putting a not so uncommon twist on:
mahajanah yena gatha sa panthaaha, basically the same thing in what little Sanskrit I can claim to know!
