Greek Alphabet Love Poem by Alejandro Torres

Greek Alphabet Love

You fade out of sight
Like a hundred kisses
In the dark
Multiple locks
On hearts
Sighs
And eyes
Cause you’re a delicate body
Wrapped in red
That I just cant see

The heart is a poor old wound
Sitting by a window
While flies gather on the pane
Watching autumn leaves falling
Feigning disinterest
But she prays for each leaf
A little soldier
Off to fight some war
In you

Your mind the battlefield
Your words the weapon
But they don’t cause mass destruction
Just gaping wounds
That the winds cant heal
And the only enemies are yourself
And my love
How insufferable
We’ve become

Fleeting and retreating
I do no harm
A golden rule
They taught me
Ages ago
While you were just learning
To let your name crawl
Across the top of a page
Or maybe they had only begun
To teach you your alphabet

You never knew the importance of A
Alpha
Accelerating your mind
When you were young you weren’t attuned
To your future
But there I was
In the middle of a hall
During your teenage adolescents
A dark whisper

And I was like that first letter
You had learn long before
Alpha
Opening up new doors
Show you new worlds
If I had known you young
Like I know you now
It would still be love

For the hay colored hair little girl
With the bright smile
Even if now your colors changed
And you’ve grown to be
Such a Goddess
I was a beginning
You brought to an end
With your blazing barrels

And we love the Greeks
I Alpha
You Omega
