Greg Trencher Poem by Francis Duggan

Greg Trencher

The wanderlust is in him he is young and carefree
He's now in sunny Queensland deep diving out at sea
He's been to Asia, North America and Europe his next port of call Japan
For one in his young twenties he's a well travelled man.

Since Greg Trencher left Mt Evelyn so many Lands he's seen
He yearns for new surroundings for him the far off hills are green
I envy him his spirit of adventure and I envy him his youth
I must be getting old now for I feel I've taken root.

Those bitten by the bug of wander they travel far and wide
And to one place or to one town they never can be tied
When they tire of their surroundings they pack up and leave town
And the highway that they travelled up they now will travel down.

Since Greg left old Mt Evelyn four or five years ago
He's been to sunny places and to where the cold winds blow
He has been as far north as Canada far from his home Country
It's a big World out there and there's so much to see.

For to stay in any place or job of work he doesn't have a long term plan
He lives a life of adventure the truly adventurous man
Greg Trencher from Mt Evelyn now at his glorious prime
His type of man down through the years have inspired the bards to rhyme.
