Growing Up Without You Poem by Savannah Hay

Growing Up Without You

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl that is broken
Staring back at me
So hurt by her family and so close to falling apart
She knows it will never he good at heart
She's used to the pain in her father game
He has filled her family with shame

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl who knows now love is a pain
Staring back at me
Her father caused her life all the pain
She wonders if she will ever gain love away from all the pain
Her father broke her
Now she prefers for him to leave her, and to never return to her

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl who now knows she is better off without, the father she has
He's been gone more than half her life
He try's to love but it's like a heart with a knife
He's hurt her over and over
She forgave him, and let him have a chance but he's hurt her heart all over

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl who's forgot
She hopes he's gone out of her life
The father will never watch her become a wife
He's gone now, to never return
She shall never mourn

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl who's grown to live without
She knows she has others to love her
Never needing him to care for her
She has her mother, family and friends
She know that's one thing she will have till the end

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl who loves her life, because now he is gone
She knows it's for the best
And now her heart can rest
She never shall stop her love, for the game
For that's her father, but she knows that his love is also pain

I look in the mirror
And what do I see
But a girl who is happy and free
She was never once his little girl
She hopes when he reads this it will give his heart a whirl and twirl
Now she hates him, she never thought that
But you hurt her Mom and Brother, so now you got to deal with that
