Growing Wan And Sallow Poem by East Sea Fairy Xing Yi

Growing Wan And Sallow

By LIU-Yong Translated by East Sea Fairy

To my surprise,
recently I've grown much wan and sallow
After we parted, weighed down by yearning and sighs,
I've pined away in sadness and sorrow.
Is it because that I default on you debt of sadness and sorrow
in my former life really?
Even though I feel so painful and low,
I just find it impossible for me
to free myself from the misery of yearning for thee.

With my heart's eye I see you lying in bed.
And the stirred-up yearning and yen I just can't drive away,
for on my bedspread,
even now your sweet odor has a stay.
Oh aye, Oh aye.
How can I pet your sweet and charming body lovingly,
as I did before, my fairy fay,
hug you through the long nights indulgently,
and kiss you in the candle light gently?
