Guarded Hearts Poem by Bill Simmons

Guarded Hearts

Rating: 5.0

There are those that are not allowed to choose
There are those that know to well how to lose
They must live their lives with their hearts against the wall
It is the one that is the loneliest of them all

Guarded hearts against the wall
If they could it wouldn’t be this way at all
They want to know love but are not allowed to choose
So they live out their whole lives born to lose

Lonely hearts ever guarded of them all
Emotions and feelings protected by a wall
One may be the lonely and their hearts not free
But the secret that they keep is their hearts dream

The dreams of one day allowed to choose
To know what love is not born to lose
The dreams of one day to tear the wall away
To know love and to taste love one day

Guarded hearts against the wall
If they could it wouldn’t be this way at all
They live out their whole lives and are not allowed to choose
They want to know what love is but instead know born to lose.
