(guatemala 1987) Poem by rag dominus

(guatemala 1987)

There was that girl,
who probably went to a bar

and a guy bought her a few drinks
then him and his little band of thugs

dragged her around the single walled tiny hotel rooms
of the local Guatemalan village, shouting,

'who wants a woman',

and they would toss her to you
while you xxxx her,
while she was wailing, sobbing

and the hair stood up on my back
and I wanted to open my door
and ask how much to leave her with me

so they could go away

and I could comfort her
but I didn't open the door

and at some point
everything was quiet again

as they took her off
somewhere I will never know.
